Replacing the former Olympic Palace Hotel in the heart of Athens, originally built in 1958 by Iasonas Rizos, the modernisit architecture of the outside is matched by a blend of art, sculpture and design on the inside.
The opening of the New Hotel Athens marks the first hotel project for award-winning designer-duo, the Campana brothers. Humberto and Fernando Campana, known for their Brazilian carnival-themed designs for everything from furniture to shoes, took inspirations from traditional Greek themes. With the help of students from University of Thessaly, the brothers wove these themes in to the 79 rooms and public spaces of the Hotel. Keeping some of the original features of the building, such as black marble staircase, they have also integrated their handmade chairs and lamps.

The New hotel opened on 1st July 2011, located very near to Constitution Square just beyond Plaka, the oldest part of Athens adjacent to the Acropolis and its new museum.

Each of the 79 rooms and suites is a living art installation that guests can immerse themselves in. All bedrooms feature floor to ceiling windows, solid bamboo floors, wooden desks, while bathrooms showcase striking solid brass washbasin in the shape of fragmented rocks. Corridors are covered in bark cloth from Uganda, a natural wallpaper produced by processing bark from Moraceae tree.
