The Kinsterna is a Byzantine mansion which has been restored to its original glory with tremendous respect for its historical, cultural and architectural heritage – and which now forms a comprehensive settlement comprising the manor house and adjoining houses. At the same time, the owners have also set out to restore the estate’s rich natural environment, including the productivity of its agricultural land and gardens so that the mansion can once again be self-sustaining. Today, the Kinsterna produces its own wine, extra-virgin olive oil and table olives, tsipouro (traditional Greek spirits), bread, marmalade and other fruit preserves, soap and much more. The mansion estate, 25 acres in size, is known throughout the region for: its gardens; age-old olive orchards featuring the “Athinolia” variety and containing many olive trees over 500 years old; an orange grove with renowned Monemvasia oranges; flowering plants and herb gardens; impressive stands of eucalyptus trees and towering cypresses - as well as its privately owned vineyards. Throughout the entire year, Kinsterna organizes historical, cultural and athletic events and activities, which are intimately connected to the estate and specially designed for visitors who wish to learn more about the mansion’s region and history.
